Rwanda was experiencing a shortage of quality potato seeds in the past. To address this shortage, Horizon SOPYRWA invested in the potato seed multiplication business by acquiring a state of the art greenhouse to produce early-generation seeds in the form of seedlings, mini tubers,pre- basic seeds, basic seeds and certified seeds. Since 2018 to date, steady improvement in terms of potato quality, disease-free mother plants and healthy seedlings has been recorded. Increased knowledge in the seed multiplication business has been achieved. Through these efforts, Horizon SOPYRWA has contributed to food security In Rwanda. Horizon SOPYRWA continues to be one of the leading companies that has the capacity and determination to address issues related to the need for increased food production and how to support the industry achieve this required growth.
